This year the Churdan public library is trying a ‘creative’ fundraising event. All area residents are invited to check out all the “ugly” sweaters at the library and vote for their favorite. The voting can definitely be rigged – Santa has promised not to watch. Each vote costs 50 cents and voting more than once will land someone on the “Nice” list, not the “Naughty” list.
There are 37 different entries from across the county, including T-shirts, sweatshirts, vests and sweaters. There are sweaters that have not been altered in any way and some that have been “wonderfully” personalized.
In addition to the sweater contest, the library is also hosting a silent auction and a drawing for a Kindle. Proceeds from the event will be used for the library expansion project and yearlong programming.
The contest runs through Saturday, Dec. 13. Winners and successful bidders will be announced at the conclusion of the Santa drawing that day, at about 1 pm.
